Filming with fraps ? Lagging O.o ?, Why does i lag :P ? Options

Hello there i got a pretty serious problem.
Well the problem is that i lag like crap when im frapsing stuff ?
What req's does my computer have to reach to get smooth fraps videos ?
Im running a
3 Ghz DualCore
2GB's of RAM
512 Nvidia Dedicatet grafic card.

Shouldn't that be enough for fraps ?
Anyways do you have some ways to make it smoother i mean wow "overall" ?

You could be having one of two problems.

One, you're computer is plain and simple not powerful enough to maintain the framerate. What and how exactly are you recording?

Or

your computer could be bogged down by malware that when fraps kicks in it takes mondo longer than it should to process and save the frame to disk.

Well its just wow im filming in and i'v set everything to the lowest ( Video settings ).

But i know that i'v downloaded loads and loads of crappy programs witch i think have slowed my computer heavily :(.
So a faster harddisc and a reinstallation of whole windows ?

My suggestions:

1 - check to see how much hard drive space you have - FRAPs produces raw .avi files that are LARGE, and if you don't have much in the way of memory left on your hard drive, it will fill it. Then everything slows way down (trust me..)

2- If you have been recording FRAPS video, then deleting it, then recording more, etc., your hard drive may need to be defragmented. You can analyze your drive by going to 'start,' then 'all programs,' 'Accessories,' 'System tools' then Disk Defragmenter. The Disk Defragmenter tool will analyze your drive and tell you if it needs to be defragmented. Note- 'Defragmenting' takes some time, so you may want to do that when you are ending a session with your comp.

3 - Before I upgraded to my current comp, I used a machine that was lower in spec than yours and I didn't have problems recording FRAPS video until I ran out of hard drive space, so I don't think the problem is the machine itself, but it could be a lack of space on your hard drive. If you are running out of hardrive space, the easiest way to add space is to use an external USB hard drive. They aren't that expensive, and while they aren't as quick as a internally mounted SATA hard drive, they are not that bad for amatuer use (i.e., those of us who don't have thousands of dollars to spend on comp equipment). An external hard drive can give you another 300 GB of hard drive storage space for about $150.

I'm also thinking that if you download tons of stuff, do you check your computer regularly for spyware, viruses, etc? Do you clean it out once in a while? Do you de-frag your HD? You better. That stuff can make your computer slow to a crawl too.

I don't use fraps, but what res are you recording at? Are you capturing the whole screen? If you were to fraps at top res of your monitor (which today reaches up past 1900x- or so), you won't have much luck. Most people have to fraps at lower res to get smooth recording. The high amount of pixels simply is too much even for some really high end computers. You may have WoW set at the lowest grahpics settings, but did you lower the resolution setting too?

For instance, if I attempt to fraps my 2000+x2000+ res on my HD monitor, and capture the whole screen. And this is on a Quad Core with 8gb of RAM, I probably would still have problems. Either because of memory issues, or harddrive throughput. If you don't have enough harddrive bandwidth it's not going to be smooth. Recording video is like recording audio in this case. Except video requires much more throughput from your hardrives due to more info being saved.

Also, if you attempt to fraps a game, the game itself will lose framrate due to reesources being used.

Half-Size will be too small.. Only 844x525 :S

Well, there's your problem. WoW does have resolution settings. I recommend turning all the OTHER graphics settings (especially multisampling) to maximum, and lowering your resolution to 1280x? or below.

And then play and record in windowed mode ? Because 1280x something makes it look like the fadest crap xD
