Anyways! Here is the deal!

All I have selected thus far is the case. and i wanted some help from you guys with motherboard and processor selection :-D

I'm going for an uber gaming/media PC and I'll be getting windows vista for sure.

Here is the case and specs that I'll need to follow for mobo guidelines:

Link to case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811144151

I was kind of considering getting the AMD Athlon 64 X2(Dual Processor) 4600+
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...6819103751#spec
Specs:
Model
Brand AMD
Processors Type Desktop
Series Athlon 64 X2
Model ADA4600CUBOX
CPU Socket Type
CPU Socket Type Socket AM2
Tech Spec
Core Windsor
Multi-Core Dual-Core
Name Athlon 64 X2 4600+
Operating Frequency 2.4GHz

L2 Cache 2 x 512KB
Manufacturing Tech 90 nm

So what I need to start of is a cost-efficient Motherboard that will be compatible with that processor(unless you recommend another one) and the mobo max dimensions for the case are: an ATX 11'x12'

Hopefully some of you are really good at this, because this is my first attempt at building a computer :-D

Yes I suppose it did.

Don't get Vista until at LEAST 6 months after it comes out because it still has some major security holes and they won't fix some of them until the first service pack.

not to mention installing this OS is like asking your programs to run slower than on XP.

First of all, just like Tristan stated; Intel is the "Powerhouse" right now and is probably going to be for a little while.

The Intel processor I recommend going with is the Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe. It may be a little bit more than the AMD you want to buy but in the end it is way worth it.

Now for a motherboard to go with the Intel Core 2 Duo, I would go with this Gigabyte GA-965P-S3. I have had great experiences with Gigabyte. Very little problems but when you do have one, they are really good at getting it fixed.
For a motherboard to go with the AMD you are thinking about, I would go with the Gigabyte GA-M61VME board. It is cost effective and a decent board.

I have checked the dimensions for both of these boards and they both will fit into that case you are planning on getting.

If you have any other questions, please ask them and we'll answer them as best as we can.

Alright I'll look into those. Thanks for all the help. I'm sure ill be asking many questions :-)
try not to hate me lol.

Really? Some people i have asked about it, said it made their gaming and media programs incredibly smoother.
